We’ll have a small number of CDs of the Clapton Pond single with us when we tour with Crazy Arm and Great Cynics at the end of February/early March – they come with 60 Miles and a re-recording of Re-arranging The Dust that we did while we were down with Pete Miles in his studio-barn in Devon.

JG Harding did the video for the single with Sam Russo acros a weekend in January and while we were confident about his film-making going into the project, I can hardly believe how happy I am with how the video turned out. He’s posted a ‘making of here’.

We’re on a short tour with the record from March 17th, starting with Manchfester and ending at the Old Blue Last in London on the 22nd March before heading back around the country, endlessly, forever. Come hang out out.

We’ve got JG Harding doing the video for our next single, Clapton Pond. I’ve seen the first cuts and I’m so excited to put this out. Here’s a screengrab of Sam Russo from the video. It’s really interesting watching someone else’s ideas and imagery wrapped up with words you have written and sounds you have spent forever working out. I found that while I was watching I was able to listen and watch as if it wasn’t our song for split seconds at a time, before reality snapped back and it felt familiar again. We should be putting the song out later this month along with the pre-sales for ‘London’.

In other news, Maryam Hassan took some photos of us at the Man Overboard show the other day. She does some great stuff with her camera, have a look at the photos over on Punktastic. The show (at least our bit of it) got reviewed on Camden Pudding too.

Emma Smith, who did the artwork for our record has documented her process on her website here along with images of elements of the artwork before it all came together. Her work is amazing and we couldn’t be happier that she keeps agreeing to do our artwork despite our vague, meandering comments on how we want it to look when in reality we have no idea. We sat together, huddled around her macbook, for seemingly nights on end just moving tiny details, increasing and decreasing the size of textures and patterns, choosing a grey and deciding on the size of the band name. I can’t thank her for her patience enough.

Josh has been listening to Kano for longer than me, turning me onto his first LP back before we lived in the city. It took me a while to get into it – I’d been listening to a lot of rap around then but grime was something that didn’t instantly appeal to me, but it grew on me, as does almost anything if you listen to it enough, and now I love it. We’re seeing Kano and Gheets tonight for the first time, probably seven or eight years after first picking up on them. I haven’t been this excited about a show since Gaslight at ULU.

We’re calling the album ‘London’ and it will be out on March 19th. We’ll be on tour from the 17th to the 22nd March with record available at all the shows and we’ll be putting up pre-orders soon. We’re having a hometown release show in London at The Old Blue Last to celebrate on the 22nd March and we’ll announce supports for that soon as well. Here’s the first tour dates with the record:

The new video for 60 Miles is below, filmed and edited by a good friend of mine, Joe Spray. I’ve known Joe for a long time and our paths kind of separated when I moved to London and he went to film school, but when we asked him to do the video he came at us with this idea and how he wanted to film it and we liked it immediately. It’s all filmed around Hackney on super 8mm film while we were on tour with I Am The Avalanche at the end of last year. Joe is working on his own short film ‘The Eternal Not‘ at the moment. Have a look at the trailer and help him out if you can with finishing his film.
